1. Live a Great Story: Think about your life as “A life story”. That alone makes it more fun, enjoyable, and inspiring to write or think about. What if you were writing about the events happening in your life every single day, like a reality show. Would it be negative, full of excuses and lacking energy and excitement…or would it have a positive tone, taking action and full of enthusiasm? Not many people want to be on a reality show because they don’t want others to see their reality. That’s understandable but we should never be ashamed of our reality. We should think of our lives as a fun and exciting adventure, a story we would love our grandchildren to read about one day. If it’s not that story right now, write a new chapter!
2. Assess How You Really Feel? Get out a piece of paper and write down how you feel inside. When you take the time to sit and write about something that is affecting you, it can lead to a deeper and more realistic view of what feelings you are actually feeling.
When we are caught up in the “rat-race” of life, we tend to disregard our feelings and keep ourselves, busy and avoid our true emotions. It isn’t until we slow down for some time to let the feelings inside be what they truly are. Then we can begin to release the bad emotions and bring in the good!
3. Point of View. Get a better understanding of your own point of view. Are you usually optimistic about situations that happen or pessimistic? What kind of thoughts go through your mind about people you meet, places you go or things you have in your life? Gaining an optimistic point of view and having positive thoughts about the people, places and things we experience will elevate those feel good hormones and bring more joy to every situation.
