There is nothing worse than feeling bloated after a meal or while your squeezing into those skinny jeans.
I have even heard many women talk about feeling bloated all the time! That’s no fun and doesn’t need to be the case for anyone! If this is the case for you or if you just feel like slimming down around the waistline in general, I have some tips for you!
Over the next few days I want you to practice these 3 important tips to see if it makes a difference for you.
Tip #1: Avoid Canned, Packaged, or Frozen foods
Why: These foods are all very high in sodium. Sodium causes your body to retain excess water and makes you feel puffy and bloated. Ever wonder why sushi makes you feel bloated the next day? It’s not the sushi, it’s the soy sauce! Canned soups, chips, frozen dinners and condiments have almost 500mg or more of sodium per serving. (check the labels)
You should only be consuming a max of 2000mg of sodium per day. Some soups will have almost 2000mg in 1 can! Be sure to check the sodium levels and also the number of servings per can or meal.
#2 Tip: Avoid Sodas and Alcohol
Why: Carbonated drinks causes gas build up in the intestines and the sugars in soda contribute to gas and bloating as well. Alcohol is almost purely sugar, so it will also cause water retention in the tissues.
It’s best to stick with water and lemon to shave off any excess bloating.
#3 Tip: Perform Cardio or Circuit Training
Why: I recommend cardio or circuit training for the next several days to get things moving in GI tract. Cardio helps boost metabolism, get the bowels moving, and get a total body workout. Stick to body weight cardio like running, swimming, stairs, elliptical, jump rope, biking, or circuit training.
Avoid excess weight lifting that the body isn’t already used to in order to avoid excess soreness and swelling.
For example: if you are not a runner, don’t go out and pick up running 3 miles a day! Walk a few miles or run 1 mile instead. If you don’t normally do heavy lifting then perform some body weight strengthening exercises first.
Remember, drinking water will not cause bloating! You must stay hydrated. These tips are to help you avoid excess water retention in the muscles and tissues, improve digestive health and have you feeling slimmer in no time.
