You are probably doing most of this already.
The problem is, you might not being doing things in the right order. You might not have your priorities straight.
You might be working on STEP 5 before mastering STEP 1!
Here’s the problem with not getting your priorities straight:
- It leads to frustration…. because you are looking for the end result, ‘like yesterday’.
- You begin to doubt yourself…. because you focus on the wrong success markers, missing all the small wins you are actually making.
- The journey sucks… because you aren’t having fun. You obsess over the end result so much that you forget to be present and appreciate great things happening in your life.
Listen, I’m here to stop all this madness and help you avoid these frustrations, doubts and unhappy times.
You are too amazing and have too many blessings in your life to miss out any of it.
But I know that the struggle is REAL!
You want to lose the excess weight once and for all.
You want to get toned and strong like you once were.
You want to love the skin your in and feel good about yourself again.
So let’s create a Path to Progress and get there.
Will you trust me?
Are you willing to get your priorities straight and attempt these big goals and ambitions slightly different?
Just a few RULES of ENGAGEMENT:
- Let go of the need for immediate gratification
- Starting today, make PATIENCE one of your mantra’s and trust the process
- Let go of past failures and start a brand new journey TODAY.
- Be willing to accept yourself for who you are right now (regardless of whether you like yourself or not) ACCEPTANCE is your second mantra.
Now you are ready to create a path to progress!
Trying to reach a fitness goal is just like trying to reach a business goal, which is what I do on a daily basis.
I’ve got big ambitions for my business and the end result is NOT CLOSE! It’s far away.
Your fitness goal might be far away too, but neither one of us should be expecting to reach it next month.
When I have a big goal, I create a plan to get there. Usually it requires 5 BIG MOVES to reach the destination.
I focus on 1 BIG MOVE at a time and set my priorities on reaching each move in order.
If I focus on reaching my end destination too often, it’s distracting. Of course I have the big goal in mind but it doesn’t consume me.
There is a difference between keeping the big goal in mind and keeping it top of mind on a daily basis.
Each day, I place my attention, focus and priorities on the ACTIONS I must take to reach my next BIG MOVE.
When it comes to your fitness goal, it’s important to create a similar plan!
There are 5 BIG MOVES required to reach optimal fitness?
Let’s break it down and be sure we get our priorities straight and we aren’t focused on MOVE 5 before we reach MOVE 1 on our fitness journey.
BIG MOVE #1:
Master your schedule: You have to be in control of your day.
Most people are winging it. Nothing is put in the calendar and no reminders are set.
This includes everything from work obligations, to workouts, sleep, meal times, free time, etc.
There is absolutely no way you can reach optimal fitness if you have not become the master of your time and schedule.
BIG MOVE #2:
Master your habits: The daily habits that make up your day must be aligned with your BIG GOAL!
Most people haven’t created a list of habits to perform daily.
I teach 17 habits in my 7-Day Planner that I personally do each day.
We all must have a list of habits in our schedule that lead us towards our big goal.
Things like sleeping 8 hours a night, drinking 16 oz in the morning, eating dinner before 8pm, walking 30 minutes a day, etc.
This is usually the biggest MOVE missing for most people. We want to reach that big goal but we have not mastered our daily habits.
BIG MOVE #3:
Master your energy: Once you have mastered your schedule and your habits, you are able to focus on optimizing your most valuable resource; energy.
Most people are completely skipping this MOVE.
Their focus is solely on how they look instead of how they feel energetically.
We get so caught up in the external and forget to focus on the internal.
BIG MISTAKE.
Before you obsess over the pounds and inches, obsess over your energy levels.
How energized do you feel on a daily basis; how are you waking up, getting through the day and ending your day?
- Do you drag yourself out bed?
- Rely on coffee to get through the workday?
- Drink a Red Bull before a workout?
- Have trouble falling asleep at a decent hour?
Your body is telling you it’s in pain. Listen to it.
We can be the master of our schedule, have a bunch of healthy habits in place but then neglecting our energy needs.
This is when most people burn out, lose willpower due to fatigue, get sick and lose momentum.
We must place a great deal of focus and attention on our energy before we can ever reach optimal fitness.
You can master your energy by incorporating recovery habits into your lifestyle. Things like:
- Hydration
- Sleep
- Stretching
- Foam rolling
- A diet high in nutrient dense foods
- Adding superfoods
- Drinking power greens
- Cardio and strength
- Meditation
- Breathing techniques
What’s going to be more important than energy when you are 60 or older?
Having energy to travel, spend time with family, make love to your husband, dance, garden, create, write or read… nothing is more important then having optimal energy.
BIG MOVE #4:
Master your mindset: The only way to sustain your motivation and reach the next big move is to get your mind right.
Our mental strength is our greatest asset for long-term fitness.
Most people completely neglect to work on personal development and this is why it’s close to impossible to ever reach and sustain optimal fitness.
Our brain is getting all the hydration, nutrition and recovery it needs at this point on the Path To Progress but in order to reach your big goal and stay there, we must develop a strong and powerful mindset.
The positive thoughts and healthy emotions will keep us moving forward.
Pay very close attention to what you are fueling your mind with.
What are you watching, reading, listening to everyday that is helping you grow into the best possible version of yourself?
Taking the time everyday to fuel the mind and soul for growth is your next big move.
This can be done in so many different ways depending on what works in your life.
- Reading positive mantras in the morning
- Reading a book that makes you feel empowered, enlightened and excited about your life.
- Listening to podcasts that teach you new things and ways of thinking
- Avoiding the negative people and gossip that doesn’t make you feel good
- Attending courses or seminars that help you grow as a person
- Journaling to reflect on your thoughts and emotions to work on self
If you skip this big move it will cause a great deal of frustration and struggle.
BIG MOVE #5
Master your consistency: This could be the hardest move but it’s not as difficult to master if you have mastered the first 4 already.
Consistency is the key to reaching your big goal.
It’s also the key to sustaining that big goal.
So many people struggle with consistency. It’s usually the biggest limiting factor for almost anyone who is struggling to reach his or her goal.
I always hear things like:
- I eat healthy for a week and then throw it away on the weekends
- I’ll workout consistently for a while but then lose my motivation
- I struggle with eating and exercising consistently
Yes, without consistency, it’s very hard to reach your fitness goals.
We have to stop trying to reach MOVE 5 “consistency” before we are able to master the first 4 Big Moves.
Why?
Because it’s impossible to master consistency in areas we have not yet mastered.
- If you haven’t mastered your schedule, how can you consistently own your day?
- If you haven’t mastered your habits, how can you consistently eat well and exercise?
- If you haven’t mastered your energy, how can you avoid burn out and crush your goals day after day.
- If you haven’t mastered your mindset, how can you consistently stay motivated and forward thinking?
You can’t.
But if you master those Big Moves first, you have the best chance at mastering Consistency in each of these areas of your life.
Then and only then can I pretty much guarantee that you will reach your big goals and get back to that time when you could say, “damn I look good”.
And it won’t just be how you look. It will be how you feel both in your body, mind and soul.
Have you ever heard the saying “Where attention goes, energy flows” by James Redfield?
Remember this quote as you begin this new path to progress and start getting your priorities straight.
What BIG MOVE must you master first?
Put your attention there and the energy will flow towards what you DO have control of right now and what you are capable of achieving.
Your ultimate goal of losing that weight and feeling damn good about yourself will happen.
Trust the process and most importantly have fun living your life.
