Sound good?
As a fitness trainer, model and video host of PopSugar Fitness, I get these messages and emails all the time, asking me to share what I eat and how I stay in such great shape. Well I think some people are expecting this picture perfect magic formula for success.
Maybe they think it’s all exercise and broccoli. I imagine most people think I have this boring life where I just eat broccoli and chicken and run six miles a day to keep in tiptop shape.
The truth is that I have the most normal routine.
Sure, it’s a healthy routine, but I still indulge in the simple pleasures we all love. You see, I love pizza, pasta, cake, wine, and even the occasional Twix bar. Does that sound crazy?
But here’s the thing, when you live a healthy lifestyle daily, you can get away with an occasional indulgence. I don’t eat those things on a daily basis. But if the moment presents itself from time to time, I’m allowed to indulge.
I have made the same small healthy choices in my life which has ultimately resulted in who I am today. Most people think that you have to live this boring and strict life to have the health and fitness you desire. I find that this comes from the fact that people who go on these extreme diets and take extreme measures are usually unable to sustain that lifestyle. They lose weight but quickly gain it back…and then some?
After trying these extreme methods, some people will feel like failures and give up completely because it seems impossible to have success! That breaks my heart.
Instead, choose to make smaller, simpler, healthy choices in your life. The results will be massive and lifelong.
The small simple changes approach to losing weight will allow you to maintain a lifestyle you love and enjoy while leading you towards that dream body and health that you’ve always dreamed of.
Now you won’t have to live without an occasional piece of bread or a helping of pasta. Your favorite foods can still be a part of your diet. You can enjoy the simple pleasures in life provided you enjoy them in a reasonable way.
Using these consistent behaviors will help you get to a healthier you without going back and forth in weight gains and loses. You’ll have such resounding success, you’ll be able to share these tips with your family and loved ones. Then they, too, will be able to achieve the body and healthy lifestyle that they want.
Time to go simple!

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be a drag!
Tip #1 – Don’t Drink Calories
The first step, one that you probably already know, is to eliminate soda and sugary drinks from your diet altogether.
Studies upon studies have shown that these drinks are laced with all kinds of chemicals that have all sorts of unhealthy effects on your body. These drinks leave you dehydrated and craving more of the sugars within them.
Tip #2 – Ban McDonalds
Next up you’ll want to eliminate fast food from your meal plan completely.
I know that’s a hard one. You’re driving around and don’t have time to eat a proper meal. So you pop into the drive-through and in minutes you’re on your way.
But take a quick look at the ingredients in some of your favorite fast foods. Add up several trips a week of that stuff and we’re talking serious damage.
If you’re finding that your life doesn’t have time for complete meals, then it’s time to figure out a schedule or meal options that isn’t causing so much damage to you. Trust me, it’s worth figuring it out.
Tip #3 – Avoid Processed Junk
Eat only real foods and eliminate processed foods. These are the man-made things that you buy in certain bags and boxes.
Cereals, frozen dinners, Oreos, and chips are all examples of this stuff. Let’s face it, those items aren’t very nutritious. You’re asking a lot of your body to process all the added chemical ingredients that were created in a lab somewhere.
Stick to the things that nature has to offer. They taste better and don’t tax your system. Hey, millions of years of evolution can’t be wrong, can it?
Tip #4 – Stay Hydrated
Finally, drink up to 16 ounces of water right when you wake up, before your breakfast and coffee.
This offsets the amount of water you lose while you’re sleeping and begins the day with hydration versus dehydration that comes from coffee and tea.
I can’t stress enough how good for you water is. Drink it up and feel the difference in your life.

There are tons of tasty options to keep you excited to stay fit!
Wrap Up:
These tips used together will lead to a happier, more positive, you. They may seem too easy and pointless at first. You may feel like they won’t make much of a difference, but it’s the continuous effort that makes the biggest difference.
Don’t skip a day or two because being consistent over time will create a massive compounding effect on you, you’ll be amazed.
Expect some well-meaning people in your life to sabotage your thinking. They’ll give you their opinions on how to lose weight, or talk to you about some diet that worked for them. They’ll try and steer you in a totally different direction.
But pat those people on the back, congratulate them, and then stick to your plan. Don’t let them derail your mindset and behaviors. Stick to the plan that works for everyone!
